I led a full redesign of the Deerfield Public Library’s quarterly print newsletter, Browsing. Delivered to every household in Deerfield, IL, the 12-page newsletter serves as the Library’s primary vehicle for promoting events and programs.
The previous layout—designed by an outside agency—had become outdated, hard to navigate, and did not reflect the Library’s visual identity. By bringing the design work in-house, I significantly improved the layout, creating a format that is more engaging for patrons, better organized and easier to read. This shift not only gave the Library greater creative control over the publication but also resulted in cost savings.
In addition to the visual overhaul, I manage the newsletter’s content and production process. This includes collaborating with Program Coordinators, Department Managers, and other staff to curate and edit the information featured in each issue. I also coordinate with the printer to ensure the final product meets our quality standards and deadlines.
Below are a couple of comparisons between the old and new layout.

To help introduce the redesign, I created a social media post to inform and excite patrons about the new look and layout.
